Pinterest for architects interested in glazing solutions – at a glance guide

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a photo-sharing website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections known as boards.

What do people use it for?

Popular applications are to gather ideas in the form of pictures for projects like renovating a home or building home extensions, events like weddings and parties, and hobbies.

How does it work?

Users create a profile and can browse other virtual pin boards for images. They can ‘follow’ the boards they’re interested in or ‘follow’ the person who created the board (in which case they automatically follow all that person’s boards). Images can be ‘re-pinned’ to their own boards to create a bespoke collection of ideas, styles, colours, products and other inspirational themes.

Why is it relevant to architects?

Architects can use the site themselves as a source of inspiration and design ideas, but perhaps more practically can ask their clients to use it as a way to gather a series of images that will help explain what it is they are trying to achieve with their building project.

How popular is it?

Created in March 2010 and with almost 50 million users and more than 25 million pins per month, Pinterest is growing rapidly in popularity.

Why are Reynaers at Home on Pinterest?

Reynaers have supplied architectural glazing solutions to thousands of projects around the world and we have some spectacular and inspirational photos of these projects. We have joined Pinterest to share these images.

How are Reynaers at Home using the Pinterest site?

In addition to sharing our own images, we are also using the site as a place to gather other images that we find inspiring. We are particularly interested in receiving photos from architects showing the projects of which they are most proud. You can share your images by sending the link via our Twitter page and we will re-pin them.
